For several years now, Arjan Pondman has been connected full-time to the Laurense Tennis Academy. He was born in Alkmaar and lives nowadays in Amsterdam. Together with Roland Laurense, he helped to establish the Tennis Academy, and saw it grow into the Top-tennis Academy it now is.
Achievements
As a tennis-player Arjan was very successful on a national level. At the age of 19 he had won many (then called A) rankingtournaments in the Netherlands, and through that obtained a top 50 position on the national ranking list. From 2000 up to / including 2008 he could be found in the top 50, with as highest ranking, the 27th place. As a level 1 player, both in the single and double, Arjan has mostly played tournaments and competition on a national level.
Hard worker
In order to pay for his tennis travelling costs, he decided in 2000 to give tennis lessons for various clubs in the area around Heerhugowaard, such as T.V. Andijk, T.V. Wervershoof and Heiloo United. Playing national and international tournaments and competitions in the Netherlands and Germany, have formed him as a person and trainer.
Decision
His passion for tennis and the drive to transfer his knowledge to the new generation, made him decide to completely focus on trainership. In 2004 he decided to follow the necessary KNLTB courses and in 2007, while already working for the Laurense Tennis Academy, he acquired his KNLTB-B diploma. Besides his full-time job as Head tennis-coach of the Laurense Tennis Academy, Arjan is still actively competiting during the Dutch and German competitions.
